Margaret Mitchell Stamp

Issued June 30, 1986

On this day in 1937, Margaret Mitchell won the Pulitzer prize for Gone With The Wind, her only published novel.

Gone With The Wind hit bookshelves on June 30, 1936. Fifty years later, the U.S. Post Office would issue a definitive 1-cent stamp to commemorate the event. The Margaret Mitchell stamp was part of the Great Americans series.
